Hello, my name is Luiza (I also go by Noura) and I am a medical professional based in Toronto, Canada. I am hosting this campaign for one of my closest friends in the world, who needs our support to save his life and his future. This campaign is, ultimately, an evacuation fund.

Mohammed is 22 years old and one of the eldest sons of a proud, beautiful family from the Nuseirat region of Gaza in Palestine. I know this family well, and they have truly enveloped me with all the love, kindness, and concern more befitting of a daughter than a friend. My friendships with all of them, and especially Mohammed, have enriched and blessed my life more deeply than I can ever articulate in words.

But even so, the reality is that Mohammed and his family are living their daily lives under the brutal siege of a genocidal occupation regime.

Their lives are threatened in unthinkable ways, every single day and every single night. I have witnessed, with my own eyes, the ways in which no family, indeed no individual, should ever be made to suffer. I simply cannot reconcile the fact that while I am worrying about the price of gas, my loved ones are literally being subjected to missiles, drone strikes, quadcopters, tank and sniper fire, and targeted attacks on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. I ask you, respectfully - how is this life? How can any human being be expected to even draw breath with the edge of a sword against their neck at all times? And yet, Mohammed somehow continues to embody that fierce, unbroken Palestinian spirit as he tries to sustain a family and complete his software engineering studies - one day at a time - one survival method after another. It's time to free him, so that he may be an anchor to his family while he builds a new future with security, peace, and stability.

This campaign is Mohammed's evacuation fund. With the funds collected here, we will do what is required to get him out of Gaza and into a university program abroad where he can complete his education in engineering with the safety, dignity, and opportunity that he deserves. This includes paying the necessary fees for the following: obtaining a passport, university application fees, student visa fees, enrollment and registration fees, logistics and travel to Egypt, and securing post-evacuation housing. I will be the direct point of contact for the duration of this campaign and he will be supported every step of the way - in sha Allah, with your help.

I cannot explain how important it is for me to meet this goal for Mohammed, and to witness him plant his feet firmly into a brighter, safer future. Saving this young man isn't just lifting one life out of the unthinkable - you are building the capacity to uplift his entire family.

After what has been endured for the last three years, this is the very least we can return to them.
